Job Summary
The Fleet Manager will oversee and drive the operations of the entire technical team. The office holder will be responsible for all vessels/assets assigned or the equivalent program management whilst ensuring optimal output and performance from the team.
About the Role
Coordinate internal programs for the technical, safety, and operational teams, including team formation and management, policy reviews, and operational and engineering activities, to ensure compliance with contracts or charter party agreements, adherence to standards, and customer satisfaction.
Work closely with the executive management team to develop the delivery of an effective and efficient fleet Management strategy for the vessels securing more engagement, best in class expertise, service excellence and confidence with key stakeholders
Provide Leadership to the Team in identifying and delivering efficient and effective strategies to deliver business and vessel performance as required against targets and KPIs always ensuring risk management
Drive performance within the Maritime teams to ensure that strategic goals are met, and the business is compliant with all regulations and KPIs
Provide oversight and ensure proper planning and execution of vessel maintenance, on all operational and technical matters
Actively drive the planning and execution dry-docking, larger repairs, classification surveys ABS, LRS, DNV), regulatory surveys (USCG), equipment upgrades and emergency repairs.
Review each division’s budget and provide strategic cost management and cost control measures on ship management budget and review any significant deviation from budgets for vessels under responsibility to Management
Ensure the integrity of all invoices submitted and ensure invoices are approved and processed in a timely manner.
Ensure identified vetting or ISM audit CAR’s are completed in a timely manner. Follow up of Vetting inspections and ensure the corrective measures to close out the identified issues in an efficient and cost effective manner
Follow up and ensure closure of incidents, audit items, vessel management report findings, non-conformances and marine casualty reports related to their allocated ships, insuring root causes are identified, and lessons are translated into appropriate systems and policies
Champion the safety and well-being of our personnel, both at sea and ashore.
Analyze fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and other relevant metrics to optimize fleet efficiency
Maintenance of vessel PMS system including unscheduled maintenance, breakdowns or failures and monitor work orders through to completion
Ensure all fleets comply with regulatory requirements, including licensing, permits, and safety standards.
Qualification and Experience
Class 1 (Chief Engineer or Master) Certificate of Competency
Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role, preferably with seagoing experience as a Captain or Chief Engineer.
A graduate in Nautical science, Transport and Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. relevant field of study or equivalent combination of experience and education in the oil and gas, offshore or marine
Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations and standards
Proven experience in fleet management, knowledge of vessel maintenance or a related field.
Proficient in the use of fleet management software and technology.
Functional Skills Requirement
Highly motivated, self-starting individual with ability to work unsupervised in a high activity environment and achieve results through strong leadership and motivation.
Competent and experienced in developing, documenting, and reporting.
Proficiency in using marine operations software and tools
Understanding of Ship Management, Marine Operations, Vessel Charter, Vessel and Company Inspections, CSO, QHSE, Dry Dock Operations, SMS review, Project Management, Crew Management.
Understanding of experience in different contracts and knowledge of international law of contracts, indemnity, insurance and charter party is an added advantage
Extensive understanding of quality assurance, health and safety, environmental management and security management for vessels.
Has in-depth understanding of international standards and procedures and makes appropriate decisions based on this knowledge.
Has experience in accident and incident investigation
